Saint Mary Cybersecurity Learning Lab Nears Completion, Ribbon Cutting

As the fall semester kicked off, the high-tech overhaul of a stretch of Miege Hall was readying for the spotlight.

The university celebrates the launch of the new cybersecurity center on Saturday, Nov. 4 with a formal ribbon cutting.

Plans for the space are ambitious. During the school year, it will be a learning space for USM cyber students. Here, they’ll practice penetration testing—building faux networks that they can then break into. They’ll also learn to think like hackers and develop skills to protect these kinds of networks.

This initiative is supported by USM donors and sponsors, and from funding from a state grant.
