Frank Thompson Launches $200,000 Challenge for USM Simulation Center

The University of Saint Mary has received a transformative boost in its mission to expand hands-on education. Frank Thompson has pledged a $200,000 challenge gift to inspire support for USM’s new Simulation Center. Every dollar raised up to $200,000 will be matched by Frank, doubling the impact to $400,000.

The Simulation Center, currently housed at Saint John Hospital, will be relocated to USM’s Leavenworth Campus. The new facility will feature cutting-edge labs, high-fidelity mannequins, and patient exam spaces – providing students with immersive, real-world training experiences.

This expansion is designed to strengthen clinical readiness and accommodate USM’s growing programs in nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, social work, counseling, and other programs. With these advancements, graduates will enter the workforce better prepared to meet urgent health care needs across the region.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity,” University President Sister Diane Steele said. “Every gift – large or small – will help create a state-of-the-art center that transforms the educational experience for many students at the University of Saint Mary.”
