Spires Training Center Opening on 4th Street
Members of the men's and women's wrestling teams warm up before a practice in their new training facility.
The University of Saint Mary is looking to elevate its opportunities for student-athletes with the opening of the Spires Training Center. The building will serve several purposes, including the practice space for the Spire Wrestling Program and as a strength and conditioning facility for all student-athletes.
USM began renovating the property in the summer and has finished the first phase of the project, with two more in progress. The building is less than a mile from campus – northeast of Saint John Hospital. With nearly 80 percent of Saint Mary undergraduates participating in athletics, the new facility will play a vital role in recruitment, retention, and the overall success of USM’s athletic programs.
“The Spires Training Center will be a true game-changer for USM,” Vice President of Athletics Rob Miller said. “It ensures that our athletes have the tools they need to excel in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference and beyond.”
