Sr. Virginia Flanick, C’42, Leavenworth, Kan., died July 18. At age 97, Sr. Virginia had the distinction of being both the oldest and longest professed member of the SCL community. She served the SCL community for 78 years.

Sr. Mary Denise Sternitzke, C’44, USM professor emerita, Leavenworth, Kan., lost her sister-in-law, Mary, on April 13.

Angela Mocellin Victory, C’45, Fort Collins, Colo., died Sept. 2, 2015.

Frances Sweeney Lembeck, C’45, Casper, Wyo., died March 22.

Mary Francis Rogers Pauley, C’45, Schaumburg, Ill., died March 21.

Helen Sheehan Corcoran, C’46, Tulsa, Okla., died Nov. 24, 2015.

Virginia Mason Waters, A’46, Kansas City, Mo., died March 15.

Ann Taylor Cider, C’46, Oshkosh, Wis., died Dec. 20, 2015.

Sr. Eloise Rodriguez, C’46, Temecula, Calif., died May 28.

Betty Dwyer, A’47, Dallas, died Aug. 21, 2007.

Sr. Charles Marie Beeby, A’48, C’61, Kansas City, Kan., died Aug. 1. She served the SCL community for 68 years.

Sr. Michel Pantenburg, C’49, Leavenworth, Kan., died June 15. She served the SCL community for 70 years.


Beverly Urbaczka James, C’51, Berkeley, Calif., died May 26. She is the sister of Darleen Urbaczka Speier, C’54, Topeka, Kan., and Elaine Urbaczka Michaels, C’47,* Green Valley, Ariz.

Mercedes Foster Craughwell, A’50, C’64, Topeka, Kan., lost her husband, John, on June 7. She shares this loss with her sister, Margaret Foster Masilionis, A’51, Topeka, Kan.

Margaret Foster Masilionis, A’51, Topeka, Kan., lost her husband, Leonard, on June 25. She shares this loss with her sister, Mercedes Foster Craughwell, A’50, C’64.

Lorraine Medill, A’52, C’56, Kansas City, Mo., died May 8. She is the sister of Monica Medill Russell, A’41, Libertyville, Ill., Shirley Medill Ruddy, A’44, Lawrence, Kan., Charlotte Medill Powell, C’43,* and daugther of Julie Riordan Medill, A’20.*

Sr. Audrey Meanor, C’52, Leavenworth, Kan., died June 14. She served the SCL community for 67 years.

Joan Fleisch Mills, C’52, Randolph, N.J., died Jan. 20.

Dolores Rodesney Seerey, C’52, Midland, Texas, lost her husband, John, on March 23.

Mary Alice Mestas Aragon, C’54, Las Vegas, died May 31.

Louwana Shortino McNamara, C’54, Kansas City, Mo., died July 10. She is the sister of Phyllis Shortino Sandy, C’60, Altoona, Wis., and Jody Shortino Kliefoth, C’67, Raytown, Mo., and grandmother of Lucas McNamara, U’03. Lou’s family suggested memorials to the University of Saint Mary.

Sr. Mary Carlo Colibraro, C’56, Leavenworth, Kan., lost her brother, Fr. Dan, on April 19.

Sr. Frances Marie Grady, C’56, Maggie Valley, N.C., lost her brother, Bob, on June 22.

Sr. Rose Anthony Perko, C’57, Leavenworth, Kan., died June 16. She served the SCL community for 63 years.

Mary Cecilia Krueger Detten, C’57, Springfield, Mo., died July 13.

Sr. Paula Marie Tweet, C’58, Butte, Mont., lost her sister-in-law, Cheryl, on July 3.

Delores Hauck Henscheid, C’58, Boise, Idaho, lost her husband, Leo, March 18. She shares this loss with her daughters Barbara Henscheid Browning, C’80, Bellevue, Idaho, Amy Henscheid Bernklau, C’84, Boise, Idaho, and Jayne Henscheid Clelland, C’87, Meridian, Idaho.

Sr. Rosella Mary Hehn, C’58, Leavenworth, Kan., died July 17. She served the SCL community for 61 years. Sr. Rosella is the sister of Sr. Ruth Ann Hehn, C’64, Cheyenne, Wyo.

Mary Kay Bondi Hudson, C’59, Loveland, Colo., died Aug. 24, 2012.

Doris Lutz Meier, C’59, Topeka, Kan., lost her nephew, Lenny, on March 30.

Toni Bartol Loudon, C’68, Greenbrier, Ark., lost her husband, Robert, on June 3. She shares this loss with her children Christine Loudon Symons, C’93, Greenbrier, Ark., and Robert Michael Loudon, C’95, Greenbrier, Ark.

Ann Brethauer-Blaney Pitts, C’76, Hopkinsville, Ky., died Dec. 31, 2015.

Debbie McAuley Bugni, C’79, East Helena, Mont., lost her father, Berie, on May 2.

Rose Schmeits, C’79, Alliance, Neb., died June 10. She is the sister of Sheila Schmeits, C’70, Alliance, Neb., and Bernadette Schmeits, C’81, Aurora, Colo.

Ann Hawkins Yount, C’79, Kansas City, Kan., died July 26 after a three year battle with cancer. She is the sister of Mary Beth Hawkins Bowling, C’84, Beaumont, Texas, and daughter of Shirley Lacy Hawkins, C’52.*


Barbara Matt Baeuchle, C’80, Lawrence, Kan., lost her father, Melvin, on June 17. Barbara is the daughter of Ruby Barron Matt, C’57,* who died March 3.

Margy Casey Moseley, C’83, Arvada, Colo., and James Casey, C’92, Denver, Colo., lost their father, Richard, in April.

Arlene Eagan Talbert, C’85, Olathe, Kan., lost her father, Leo, on June 6.

Margaret Satterwhite Waddell, C’85, Columbia, Mo., lost her cousin, Chelsey, on June 26.

Paul Dean, C’95, Liberty, Mo., died Dec. 18, 2015. Paul served as a math teacher at USM.

Sr. Ann Schumacher, C’97, Belgrade, Mo., lost her father, Ignatius, on July 25.


James Hamil, Overland Park, Kan., lost his wife, Sharon, on May 31. James was commissioned by the Saint Mary Scholarship Friends Board in 1994 to paint the iconic watercolor landscape of front campus.

Sr. Vickie Lichtenauer, lost her father, Charlie, on June 15.

Richard W. Miller, Kansas City, Mo., died April 15. Richard served on the Saint Mary Board of Trustees and president’s council. Richard is the brother of Martha Miller Roult, C’52.*

Stephanie Navinsky, USM director of food service, lost her grandmother-in-law, Helen, on May 13, and her grandmother, Linda, on June 15.

Tammy Pike, USM accounts payable associate, lost her father, Stacy, on June 17, and her mother, Bonnie, on July 20.
