Sr. Virginia Flanick, C’42, Leavenworth, Kan., died July 18. At age 97, Sr. Virginia had the distinction of being both the oldest and longest professed member of the SCL community. She served the SCL community for 78 years.

Louwana Shortino McNamara, C’54, Kansas City, Mo., died July 10. She is the sister of Phyllis Shortino Sandy, C’60, Altoona, Wis., and Jody Shortino Kliefoth, C’67, Raytown, Mo., and grandmother of Lucas McNamara, U’03. Lou’s family suggested memorials to the University of Saint Mary.

James Hamil, Overland Park, Kan., lost his wife, Sharon, on May 31. James was commissioned by the Saint Mary Scholarship Friends Board in 1994 to paint the iconic watercolor landscape of front campus.

Sr. Vickie Lichtenauer, lost her father, Charlie, on June 15.

Richard W. Miller, Kansas City, Mo., died April 15. Richard served on the Saint Mary Board of Trustees and president’s council. Richard is the brother of Martha Miller Roult, C’52.*
