Sister Diane Steele Celebrates 15 Years - University of Saint Mary

“We are blessed to have such an incredible leader to learn from and be inspired by, and we look forward to all that’s to come.”

Since 2001, Sister Diane Steele has led USM as president—providing exemplary leadership to the ever-growing and nationally-recognized university. Under her guidance, Saint Mary launched the Stefani Doctor of Physical Therapy program, alongside a unique partnership program in engineering, a triple-advantage accounting program (BS, CPA, MBA), and a new master’s in athletic training program. Today, USM has more than 1,400 students and offers over 30 undergraduate programs, eight graduate programs, and one doctoral program.

“Sr. Diane’s leadership reflects her unbounded energy and commitment to the university, as well as her ever expanding knowledge of virtually every discipline—from the arts to the sciences to health care—enabling her to further shape the full breadth of this university,” said Provost Dr. Bryan Le Beau. “Over the past 15 years, our university’s growth has been remarkable, both in its student numbers and in its complexity.  We are blessed to have such an incredible leader to learn from and be inspired by, and we look forward to all that’s to come.”
