Cali to Kansas: Welcome, Kathleen!

The Development Office and the entire Saint Mary family welcomes Kathleen Brady as the new vice president for development.
Kathleen comes to USM with nearly two decades of experience in higher education—most recently serving as associate vice president for development and campaign director at Cal State East Bay (Hayward, Calif.). At Cal State East Bay, she led the school’s development team—setting their annual fundraising goals and strategies for stewardship. She worked with university administration to relaunch the university comprehensive campaign, complete with new fundraising goals, branding, and priorities.

Though her list of accomplishments at Cal State is remarkable, her three-year tenure at San Jose State University (San Jose, Calif.) is just as impressive. Serving as a senior director of development at SJSU, Kathleen played a critical role in the success of the university’s firstever “Acceleration” comprehensive campaign, while she also helped secure the private support of alumni on behalf of the College of Humanities and the Arts.

Prior to SJSU, Kathleen worked for the University of Kansas Endowment Association as a senior development director in the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences and a development director for the College of Education and College of Architecture.

After six years in California, Kathleen is excited to be home in Kansas (born in Parsons and raised in Ottawa). She has laid down roots in Lawrence—which brings her closer to both her daughter and family in Kansas City.

Kathleen knows USM is the perfect fit—appreciating our progressive focus on teaching the 21st Century student with a strong emphasis on preparing students for the health sciences and STEM-related fields. She added, “I love the university’s stress on developing the ‘whole student,’ building and nurturing moral character based on Christian values.”
