Class Notes – Summer 2019
’40s
Joanne EganKnowles, A’43, Houston, Texas, recently celebrated her 92nd birthday.
Clara Mae Brogan, C’45, Concord, N.H., was recently the recipient of the annual Elizabeth Yates Award from Concord Public Library Foundation for her work in inspiring young people to read. Clara goes twice a month to read to the children at Christa McAuliffe School. Clara, age 94, also volunteers in the parish office by assisting in the offertory count, writing and mailing birthday cards to other senior parishioners (among other things!).

Karen Kremers Tyler, C’74, Bentonville, Ark., continues to get together with several members from the class of 1974. They have been gathering for 9 years, usually in the Kansas City, Mo. area and are celebrating their 45th reunion this year.
Patrice Halbach, C’74, White Bear Township, Minn., continues teaching at DeLaSalle High School in the Theology Department. She is prepping for a trip to Israel to sing and tour with some wonderful liturgical composers.
Denise Cunningham, C’76, Effingham, Kan., is still substitute teaching and very much enjoys it. She is looking forward to her 45th reunion in 2021.
Roberta Charney Abaday, C’76, M’05,
Tamuning, Guam, retired in Sept. 2017. She continues to teach part-time as an adjunct professor at the University of Guam. She also leads tai chi exercises on the weekends and volunteers at the African Arts Museum three days a week.
Sr. Susan Wood, C’71, Wauwatosa, Wis., was appointed as the Academic Dean of the Jesuit Graduate School of Theology at Regis College, Toronto, Canada. Sr. Susan is the first female Academic Dean. Her role is effective Aug. 1, 2019. Congratulations Sister Susan!

Kristy Bockelmann Lewis, C’86, Azle, Texas, retired in March and will be traveling the US in an RV visiting family and friends.
’90s
Bridget Nicole Locke, C’99, Kansas City, Mo., earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications and human development from the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kan. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Communication and Leadership from Park University and is scheduled to graduate in December.

Josh Woods, U’03, Lawrence, Kan., was recently appointed to a new position as the Director of the Kansas City Field Office for the General Services Administration, Public Buildings Service.
’10s
Sophia Piraino, U’13, Kansas City, Mo., was recently hired at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, Kan. as an advanced practice nurse (APRN).
Cenyeaa Williams, U’17, Lee’s Summit, Mo., is currently working as a Graduate Assistant for the Office of International Student Services at Fort Hays State University and will graduate with a Master of Science in Education in May 2019.
